Welcome New Educators!

Welcome New Educators!

We are thrilled to welcome our new educators to the Oregon School District!  About 40 new members of our OSD family started their journey with New Educator Orientation, which started this past Monday, August 19. During the orientation, educators learn what they need for a successful start to the school year, and have fun doing it.

One of the favorite activities is a scavenger hunt, where educators work in teams to complete challenges that take them throughout the district. In addition to a hands-on introduction to the district, there are a number of other benefits from this activity.

"The new educators have an opportunity on their first day to explore our school district community which helps them to begin to make community connections," reports Amy Miller, one of the co-coordinators of this activity. "It gives new educators an opportunity to connect with other new teachers and staff and have fun together."

Throughout the week, new educators have the opportunity to hear from our School Board president, meet their building leadership, learn about the different OSD departments and resources, and build a cohort of new colleagues.

"One of our core values is Caring & Professional Educators and we are so glad that this amazing group of new educators has chosen us," notes OSD Superintendent, Dr. Leslie Bergstrom. "We want every educator to feel like OSD is their home, and that is why we place a strong emphasis on supporting our new colleagues."

In addition to the formal orientation, new educators will join returning OSD staff members next week for staff welcome activities.

Watch for our upcoming features on OSD social media in the coming weeks to learn more about our new educators, and join us in welcoming them to the OSD.
